Hurricane Chronicles RPG
If you enjoy the Naruto series, and enjoy creative and exciting community writing, look no further than the Hurricane Chronicles RPG!

With the roleplay just beginning, we'll hoping for some people to temporarily fill important character roles with non-playable-characters alongside their own player-characters. This includes not only one of the five Kage, but those of the minor countries, leaders in each village's ANBU divisions, and even one of the nine tailed beasts!

Why hello! This is your friendly neighborhood founder, Ketch, and I appreciate you not being frightened away by this overly-obnoxious theme and stopping by to find out more about this fledgling roleplay!

I started this forum by myself, and attempted to get the roleplay off of the ground with a hastily-assembled group of people. Due to real-life commitments, they were unable to stick around and …

Ketchup

Genin
Ketchup
So you think you’ve got what it takes, huh? Think you can handle your candle in the world of Hurricane Chronicles, huh? Skimmed through a few threads, and decided you’re just gonna throw yourself into the mix, huh?

Well, you’re probably right.

The application process itself is simple enough and, as with anything else, the more you immerse yourself into the roleplay, the more familiar you’ll be with its in’s and out’s. Before completing your application, however, it’s highly recommended you peruse through the site and get somewhat of a grasp on the game’s many aspects.

If you’ve done so already, great! Here’s the guide to getting started:

Name: Remember, while the setting is based on canon villages and countries, there are no canon characters nor will there ever be.

Age: Though your character is a genin, there is virtually no limit to how old your character can be.

Village: Denotes which of the five great shinobi countries your character belongs to. This isn’t necessarily where your character originates from; only where they are registered shinobi of.

*Clan: Your family’s name. Link your clan profile here, if you have one; don’t submit your application until you’ve applied your clan to staff as well.

*Kekkei Genkai: If you’ve got one, list it here. Remember to at least present your idea to the community before deciding on this; it may or may not get approved as you envisioned, so basing your character heavily on this attribute might not be feasible unless it actually… you know, works.

Affinity: Your nature transformation affinity. Though you don’t get this until you reach 5,000 Chakra Control, you can list what it’ll be here. And, no, just because your character may be from Kirigakure or Kumogakure, that doesn't mean your affinity has to be Water or Lightning.

You can change this at any point prior to unlocking it. After you unlock it and start using it, though, that’s it: you're stuck with it. You’ll have to wait until you unlock a second nature for another.

Appearance: Describe what your academy graduate genin looks like, head to toe. Include not only the color of their hair and eyes, the articles of clothing they typically wear, but also any unique traits they may have; a scar across the eye, a special trinket they always keep with them, and the like.

Personality: How do they carry themselves on a day-to-day basis? Are they introverted or a socialite? How do they react in specific situations, and how do these quirks define them? Are they dedicated to their responsibilities as shinobi of their village? Are they living the life simply for the kicks?

These are simple ways to flesh your character out; make sure not to prattle on about this and that, though. This is meant for your character’s most unique and defining traits. Don’t give too little, nor too much. Yes, it’s a delicate balance, but I believe in you!

Background: Where does your character come from? What of his family’s origins, if any? Why did he join your village’s academy, and what pivotal events in his life led up to this decision? You can also use this section to give reasoning for his different physical and personality traits.

A key point of this section, unlike the others, is not to give too much; divulging everything about your character here is essentially compressing the entirety of their existence thus far into a paragraph. Whatever plots you’ve constructed for them, leave out; use it as fuel for further writing after you get approval.

Stats: Everyone starts off with 1,000 Chakra to disturb between Bukijutsu, Taijutsu, Speed, and Strength anyway they desire. You can split it evenly among all or dump it all into one category. It’s all up to you. This goes the same for Chakra Control and its subcategories. Remember: you only need Kekkei Genkai if your clan has one.

This is how it should look:

John Doe - Sunagakure, Genin

Chakra: 1,000
Bukijutsu: 200
Taijutsu: 100
Speed: 300
Strength: 400

Chakra Control: 1,000
Ninjutsu: 300
Genjutsu: 150
Kekkei Genkai: 550

Remember to keep your stats color coded, too. You can find the coding for each village here.

Sample Chapter: This is your very first piece of writing for the roleplay. This can be about almost anything you want: your character’s graduation ceremony; their first meeting with their three-man squad; a stroll through the village they’ve dedicated themselves to protecting; them having a drink with their mentor. This is simply a gauge of your writing skills.

It’s important to note that all writings are written in the third-person narrative. This doesn’t include dialogue---only everything else. This must be at least 500 words, though, you can make it as long as you want.

Once you’ve got everything drafted up, go ahead and thread it in the Registration section with this title: 1) [Village], 2) the week you applied, and 3) the name of your character. It should look like this for John Doe:

[Sunagakure] Week 1: John Doe
If you’re not sure which week it is, go ahead and message anyone or pop into the ChatBox and ask there.

The approval process may take some time, depending on whether or not there are any holes in your application that need to be patched up. This is common for anyone, though, staff is always available to guide you through getting approved as quick as possible. Patience is a virtue. Remember that.
