MOCHIZUKI
望月
In its relatively brief history, the clan has seldom produced a shinobi who has managed to rise above the rank of chunin. Only through the rise of its current figurehead, Shinpachi, has the clan managed to achieve any form of renown.望月
Graduating from the academy at the top of his class, while being the youngest graduate among them, Shinpachi became only the second shinobi in the history of the Hidden Rock to be directly promoted from the rank of genin to jounin---the other being the current Tsuchikage, Yara Yuuji.
In spite of his prowess as a shinobi, when considerations for the position of the third Tsuchikage were made, Shinpachi was excluded altogether; a man short on patience and lacking in foresight, he was deemed unfit even for the position of jounin commander. Left with nothing but his frustrations, Shinpachi retired from his post as one of village’s senior-most jounin, withdrawing his estate and his clan from the village altogether.
Since his instatement as leader of the Mochizuki, “Pac” has taken to utterly erasing his people’s pitiful history by embodying the ideal of hardness behind the Will of Stone and by holding his progeny to an almost unattainable standard of excellence that only he, of the dozens upon dozens of Mochizuki that have come before him, has managed.
In the twelve years since the beginning of his reign, both of his eldest sons have failed the chunin exams at least once. His second-youngest son, Shinsuke, failed the final examination at the academy twice and, upon voicing his reservations about being forced into following in his father’s insurmountable footsteps and the path of the clan altogether, was banished by his increasingly-frustrated father.
